Opening Night.
It happened. We opened. It was great.
Began at 3pm with notes on the previous night's run. The sun was shining and the omens were good. Got down to the chapel and moved the pews into postion and focused lights and got into costume and warmed up. Good atmosphere in the group. Some inspired words from the director and we started. I was really excited. No time for nerves – there's plenty to get on with instead.
Because of where I was positioned to come on first I could see the audience coming in. There were lots of em! Around 65 of a possible 80. A good sign of things to come. They were very nice too. Didn't grumble too much at being shifted to 3 different positions outside.
Scenes outside were fun – if a little frightening. Blocking was just about ok. Did far more running than I thought I would. The run was smooth and fairly swift and people were happy with the show. The audience were nice and seemed to love the play at the end. It was a good start. The challenge now is to develop and build the show until its truly awesome. The best thing is that we don't know how good the show can be and the task in hand is to attempt to discover that. We are lucky to get another chance tonight with a brand new audience. See how we get on.
