Its Wednesday morning.

Thinking over the last 2 days. Things have cranked up a gear again. Its now 4 days until the Tech. Yep. Doing a run this evening. All off book. In the chapel.

Monday was great. Last thing in the evening we were working on a scene which wasn't quite right. Been working it outside – inserting more violence. Then took inside and worked with Bruce and found a whole new level. It became very raw, very painful, very intimate. Hearts were broken. There's not many opportunities in the play for characters to show their most vulnerable side so this one has to be handled delicately and sensitively. I really love the scene and it opened a shaft of sunlight onto Demetrius, especially the last 6 lines, where he is alone for the first and only time in the play.

Yesterday we spent the whole rehearsal on Act 3 Scene 2 – the huge Lovers scene. Time flew. Involves a lot of lifting, fighting, running. Frenetic and fun. Got frustrated making a few physical moments work but came through it and we now have a good structure to the scene. If we can match the words to it (and not shout/scream/grunt over the people speaking) we'll have an excellent scene. Its easier for the boys because we have less to say. The girls have a lot of lines.

Needed time to think last night so took a drive up to Blackford Hill. Its very quiet at night. Did some scenes and went through some stuff. Watched the stars and the city. Things are gradually clicking into place for Demetrius. Quince is great and I love him but I can have more fun with him. Demetrius is a lot different and deeper and more troubled. Getting into his head is much slower.

All I can think of to write at the moment. I'll report back after the run tonight. I guess we'll see how far we have to go afterwards.
