We went to the chapel. First time back since the Christmas show. I’ve grown up with the place and always feel better when I return. Its been swamped by tourists ever since The Da Vinci Code book and film and crazy publicity. Perhaps Tom Hanks is now buried under the floor along with the Holy Grail. And Lord Lucan and Elvis too…

Did the read -thru. With a twist. It was in the spaces we plan on using – outside on the grass, on the scaffolding, in the chapel. And we were instructed to use different accents, styles and play. Mine ranged from Irish to Cornish and included a blind old Demetrius at one point, crashing into pews with his cane. I love playing. But I usually forget and want to get things right. Or assume that “play” is not for Serious Acting. It is. It feeds everything we do on stage. It is all a Play. This was the best read-thru because people put so much into it. Brilliant to watch people creating and bouncing ideas around. This play has so much to offer. This is a great beginning. Looking forward to tomorrow.
